Why Panchgani is underrated

Panchgani's Table Land plateau is one of the most distinctive launch sites in Maharashtra — a flat volcanic mesa with a clean western face that catches consistent ridge lift through the winter. The plateau gives wide, forgiving launches and dramatic views over the Krishna valley.

It draws fewer crowds than Kamshet, which means shorter waits and a more relaxed flying day. The trade-off is fewer operators and a slightly longer drive from Pune — but the flying quality is comparable, and the ridge scenery is arguably better.

Kamshet wins on accessibility and operator choice — more slots, more providers, closer to the Pune-Mumbai corridor. Panchgani wins on scenery and calm; the plateau launches are spacious and the airspace less busy.

If you're planning a Mahabaleshwar or Panchgani weekend anyway, adding a flight here makes sense. If paragliding is the primary goal, Kamshet remains the safer bet for reliability.
