With certified operators, yes — tandem flights have a strong record. Most incidents trace to unlicensed operators, worn equipment or flying in cancelled conditions.
None — you're a passenger. The pilot controls everything; your only jobs are a short run at launch and standing at landing.
Typically 12+ with guardian consent and roughly 20–95 kg, because wings are certified for a load range. No upper age limit if you're mobile.
8–25 minutes of airtime depending on the format and site. Total time on site runs 2–3 hours including briefing and the drive up.
Tandem flights run ₹1,500–₹4,500 depending on site and duration. P1 courses are typically ₹25,000–₹40,000. Video add-ons are usually ₹500–₹1,000.
Weekend slots at Kamshet book out 1–2 weeks ahead in season; Bir Billing is tighter. Weekdays are easier everywhere.
Reputable operators reschedule or refund — that's standard practice, not a bad sign. An operator who never cancels is the one to worry about.
For first-timers: Kamshet. For XC or altitude: Bir Billing. For scenery on a trip: Manali or Vagamon. It depends what you're flying for.
October–November is peak nearly everywhere. Kamshet runs October–May; Bir Billing October–November and March–May; southern sites October–March.
No — June to September closes nearly every site. Rain and cloud make ridge flying unsafe.
P1 takes 2–3 days, P2 adds 5–7. You can be flying supervised solos within a week; a genuine independent rating (P3) takes weeks spread over more airtime.
Yes — an instructional tandem lets you handle the controls under supervision and answers 'is this for me' before you pay course fees.
Not through P2 — schools provide everything. Buying makes sense from P3 once you know your EN class and are flying regularly.
