One corridor, different faces
Think of Kamshet–Lonavala–Pawna as a single flying zone, not three separate sites. The ridges that run from the expressway corridor to the Pawna basin all respond to the same westerly sea-breeze systems — operators pick the face that fits the day's wind.
Pawna-side launches are the scenic ones: you fly with the lake below, Tikona fort on the horizon and the Sahyadri ridge lines rolling out. On a clear evening slot it's the most photogenic tandem in the region.
The practical difference for a visitor is small — same operators, same season, same drive time. If your priority is the view and the stay combination, ask specifically for a Pawna-side slot. If your priority is reliability on a marginal day, the main Kamshet faces keep more options open.
The stay-and-fly combination
This is where Pawna genuinely beats the main Kamshet sites. The lake shore has a dense cluster of campsites, glamping setups and villas — a full weekend can be fly Saturday morning, bonfire Saturday night, paddle or trek Sunday.
Book the flight first and the stay second. Flying is the weather-limited half of the trip; the lakeside weekend works even if the wind doesn't.
