Paragliding Equipments
Before you look for the cost of paragliding equipments, let me tell you that you don't need to buy any paragliding equipments for your training courses with the paragliding schools in India. Some paragliding schools (eg. temple pilots) also provides flying hours even after you complete your course. So buy paragliding equipments only if you want to fly regularly and for long.
Ok, so here are the approximate cost of equipments in India. For foreigners in India, it may look cheap as Indian retailers has quite less margins then their western counterparts.
Glider (Canopy): From Rs. 80,000 to Rs. 1,20,000 [$1775 to $2660]. My 'Gin Zulu' glider came for Rs. 1,04,400
Harness: From Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 30,000 [$222 to $666] depending on the brand. My 'Supair EVO - XC sports' came for Rs. 31,500
Helmet: From Rs. 1,000 to Rs. 13,000 [$22 to $288]. Please buy a good helmet. My 'Charlie Insider' came for Rs. 12,500
Reserve Parachute(MUST): From Rs. 20,000 to Rs. 30,000 [$444 to $666]. My 'Gin Reserve' came for Rs. 28,000
Edit: (Comments from Stefan Schumacher) : As a paragliding pilot I just don't agree with one statement on Your
equipment page. I would replace the OPTIONAL behind rescue (reserve parachute) with a
MUST. If somebody can afford to buy a full paragliding equipment,
there should be the 10 percent for the last chance, that can save
your life.
In many countries this parachute is required by law for a good reason. In the conditions around Kamshet I would not like to fly without a rescue after two incidents where I almost had to throw my reserve. And I am just flying an DHV 1-2 glider, that is very stable in most cases.
